Meaning of Options terminology
We execute orders for printing photographs using the following options terminology:
1. The option "to print frames" indicated in the order form for machine printing means:
- full frame printing ("overall"), printing without any loss of information: the image will be reduced / enlarged proportionally so that it fills the photo paper entirely. If the size of the file image is not equivalent to the size of the required format, the print will contain white borders on one of the sides.
- full bleed printing ("cut"), printing with a possible loss of some information: the image will be reduced / enlarged to a size so that it covers the paper from one edge to the other. If the size of the file image is not equal to the size of the required format, some information in the print may be lost, but the print will not contain any white borders.
Examples and detailed information are given in the special section "Full Frame Printing/ Full Bleed Printing" on our website.
2. The option "whole film" indicated in the order form for film scanning and machine printing of photographs means:
- a cut film is a film that consists of several parts (irrespective of the number of frames in each part)
- an uncut film is a film which consists of only one part (irrespective of the number of frames in each part)
3. The option "to print frames" on the order form for machine printing of photographs means:
- selected frames printing - only the indicated frames are printed
- printing of all frame - all frames are printed regardless of the sharpness, content and quality of the source (film or digital media)
- printing of high quality frames - only frames that are not defective will be printed. We consider the frames defective if they seriously lack sharpness, are extremely dark or extremely bright, have a very poor or even non-existent composition, or if they contain less than 25% of the required information. It should be pointed out that any such evaluation is approximate.
