If you do not have the opportunity to work with ftp, but need to upload many files, you can use the following method:

1. Create a ZIP archive of the files that need to be uploaded from the server.
2. Upload this ZIP file using the method called "one file at a time".
3. Arrange the order!

How does it work?

After a ZIP file has been uploaded to the server, it is automatically unpacked and its contents are saved in the client's ftp directory. Your ZIP file may contain files, subdirectories, and other ZIP files (ZIP archives inside ZIP archives). All levels of objects embedded in the archive will be fully unpacked . In cases where file names coincide, the most recently uploaded one will be given a new name (old name + suffix). Completely identical files (in name and content) are recognized and so duplicates in the client's directory will not be created.

You can also download ZIP archives via ftp, in this case they will also be unpacked automatically after they have been uploaded.

Please, note! When uploading via HTTP, the maximum possible size of the uploaded file is 256 MB. The size of an uploaded file is unlimited when uploading via ftp.

You are able to upload files twice or even three times as quickly!

Preliminary archiving is important especially for files in TIFF format, because such files can be easily compressed (two or three times less than the original files). When archiving your TIFF files using ZIP, you can reduce the time of file upload to the server significantly and cut its outgoing traffic.

To reduce the size of files you can use not only ZIP archiving, but also LZW or ZIP compression for TIFF files. Such files are converted automatically into files without compression after having been loaded. You can use compression inside the TIFF file along with external ZIP-archiving, though it has little effect, since the second action, unlike the first, will not lead to a significant reduction in file size. Therefore we advise you to select one of these two methods, whichever is more suitable for you.
