We use Durst photographic enlargers and Kodak chemicals for hand printing from black and white and colour films. We do hand printing only from negatives. We accept any sizes of negatives for printing and any types of films up to 13x18 cm.

The cost of hand printing includes technical hand retouching of defects caused by scratches on the negative, dust, and other small particles having fallen on the negative, as well as air bubbles, having remained on the photographic paper when processing.

Defects look either like white spots which are subject to be adjusted to the general background, or like black spots which should be removed. Ink or aniline dyes are used for bright spots; dark spots are removed by means of scraping.

Options of technical retouching are rather limited, since the cause of damage is often on the emulsion layer of the film, but not on the print. In this regard, one should not expect that any defects can be corrected by technical retouching when making optical manual printing.

Black and white hand printing

We make black and white hand printing using Ilford Multigrade IV paper both on a resin coated base (RC) and on a fibre base (FB). This type of paper makes use of an advanced emulsion, which allows to draw attention to the finest details, and to keep the wealth of shadows and the depth of the black colour.

Ilford Multigrade IV RC Deluxe (190 g/m²) is a premium quality variable contrast black and white paper on a bright white resin coated (RC) base. It is an ideal choice for all photographs of a general nature

Ilford Multigrade IV FB Fiber (255 g/m²) is a premium quality variable contrast black and white paper on a fibre base (FB) of a high density. It is an optimal choice for printing works for exhibitions and museums, photographic collections, as well as for printing such photographs which need retouching and hand-colouring.

Colour hand printing.

We make colour hand printing using Kodak Professional Supra Endura paper. It is available in three surfaces: matte, glossy and metallic.
