Framing Service
Framing is one of the finest ways to bring out the best in photographs. A framed photograph will enhance and brighten up any interior. Using photographs as interior decoration is modern, stylish, and practical.
After selecting a photograph to be framed, there comes the question of how to do it. One might think, there aren't that many framing options. They are a simply framed photograph, and a mounted (matted) framed one. But in fact the number of options is unlimited. It all depends on the photographic image, the area where it is to be hung, and the purpose you intend on using it for as interior decoration. Displaying a photographic image is just as creative an activity as the act of taking it. It's all up to you. While our role is to assist you in this process.
What Can Be Framed?
Framing is commonly associated with pictures and photographs. Framing is also an option for posters, tapestries, diplomas, geography maps, painted silk, needlework, mirrors, coins, certificates, and even screens and the front panels of TV sets. Water colours, gouache paintings, pastels, and pencil drawings, as well as photographs, can be framed with a mount (mat). It is not common to mount oil paintings, though. If it is oil on canvas or a canvas print, they should be stretched onto a stretcher bar frame and then framed.
Common Framing Techniques
1. Image + Frame Moulding.
A frame moulding gives the image a complete look, which makes it a common choice for displaying photographs and pictures. Make sure the frame you selected for your photograph is a good match: they both should be in one style. At the same time, the image should remain the centrepiece with the frame adding a final touch to it. As a rule, smaller-sized photographs are presented in broader picture frames, while large-sized images look fine in narrow frames.
2. Image + Mount + Frame Moulding.
The second most popular way to present a photograph involves mounting (matting). Mount board is strong cardboard that comes in a range of colours and textures. Mounts have a purely decorative function: a mount is placed between the picture frame moulding and the image to enhance the visual appeal of the photograph. If you wish to have your image presented in a specially ingenious way, a double or triple mount might be used: mounts are laid one over another to create a 3D effect.
3. Image + 3D Mount + Frame Moulding.
3D mount is a kind of mount (mat). It is deeper than the standard mount, which makes the image look as if it were "countersunk" into the mount. It is possible to compliment a 3D mount with a standard mount or a double mount, and to play around with colour, texture, and width options.
4. Image + Transparent Glass Mount + Frame Moulding.
This is a very rare technique, a curious one in a manner of speaking. Here, the space between the moulding and the photograph will be the same colour as the wall behind the artwork. A transparent glass mount (mat) might also be an interesting option for suspended photographs.
5. Image + Mount + Liner + Frame moulding.
Liners are wooden or plastic slips which go between the image and the frame moulding, or between the image and the mount (mat). Liners add a special decorative effect to the artwork. They come in a variety of types: smooth, carved, polished, toned, as well as aged ones of various colours and hues.
